It is never too early for your child to benefit from the power of music.
But if you have come this far, chances are you already know that! As an increasing amount of scientific evidence continues to show, music and other arts education is not only beneficial to all people in and of itself, but it also correlates to deeper levels of success and happiness in many other aspects of life.
At Music Time Academy, we include children under age 6 (and their caregivers) into our community of music-makers though 2 main programs, until they are old enough for private lessons on an instrument of their choosing.
MEET MUSIC: FAMILY MUSIC TIME
For children under 4 (or 4 to 6 year-olds with younger siblings). Caregiver participation required.
Using a variety of playful, stimulating and age-appropriate activities, our weekly class will not only become a cherished bonding time for you and your loved little one, but through this early exposure to musical concepts, it will also help set the stage for your child to succeed in future musical endeavors on any instrument.
Each class uses a variety of carefully chosen songs, including a mix of classic and modern children’s music, folk, rock & roll, blues, pop, jazz and more. Fun and exciting musical activities range from instrument play and singing to nursery rhymes to dance and movement. Through the guidance of a passionate and qualified instructor, families will play and grow together, all while learning important fundamental patterns of music like steady pulse, rhythm, dynamics, tempos, song form, melody and much, much more.
MEET MUSIC: A SOUND EXPERIENCE
For children ages 3.5* to 6. Caregiver participation not required in class.
Meet music, your new best friend! We believe that all children are musical, and that the earlier we can help harness a love of music within your child, the more lifelong benefits music will offer him or her. It’s a real symbiotic relationship!
Truly a sound experience, children in our unique “Meet Music” class will first and foremost be taught of the importance of listening. Under the guidance of an instructor experienced and educated in Early Childhood Development and the pedagogy of Music, children will explore and discover the elements of music-making. The musical concepts introduced in class will come alive as they are applied upon a variety of instruments (including the voice, piano/keyboard and several types of string & percussion instruments) and through musical movement & play. We’ll also start building familiarity with musical notation & terminology. This is a fun-focused, age-appropriate preparatory class for students whose caregivers wish to give them a head start with music before they are old enough for formal training on one specific instrument to be effective.
*Students under 4 years old must attend Family Music Time prior to enrolling, or must have some preschool experience and be able to stay seated for stretches of 5-8 minutes at a time.
