Best known for her abilities as a vocalist, Lara Patton stands out as being not only an exceptionally skilled performer, but also a formally educated and well-rounded musician who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from one of the highest regarded musical institutions in the Bay Area – California State University, East Bay. As the only female guitar and bass instructor on staff, Lara’s musical experience and education is passed on not only to her (male and female) voice studies, but also to instructing students of all ages and skill levels on technique and theory as it applies to the multiple instruments that she teaches. In addition to her college education in music theory, history, and performance, Lara has studied voice privately under Bay Area vocal legend, Pamela Hicks for two years and with Allen Shearer for four years. She has also studied Bass with Joe Howard (Fremont High School).

In addition to her extensive studies of music, Lara has also spent years as an avid performer. She has appeared in a variety of performance ensembles through Cal State East Bay, including vocal groups CSUEB Singers and CSUEB Jazz Singers, and instrumental groups CSUEB Latin Jazz Ensemble and CSUEB Standards Ensemble (as a bassist). Lara can currently be seen performing locally at clubs, cafes and other events alongside fellow Music Time Academy instructors Xavier Guerreo and Nicholas Lyon Wright in up-and-coming rock/Blues groups such as The Purple Sages and The Dream Tellers.
