A long time friend and colleague of our very close-knit staff, Tim’s expertise on guitar, vocals, drums, ukulele & piano makes him yet another multi-faceted instructor. We are thrilled that he is currently accepting new students of all ages and skill levels at Music Time on Thursdays & Sundays.
Tim comes to us with a unique and impressive background of both music performance and education. Although he is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the highlights of Tim’s education includes studies at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, England. After receiving a full ride scholarship to the school from his audition, Tim completed and received certification in the Higher Diploma Course for Guitar Performance (a field of study focused on various forms of contemporary music, songwriting, music business and music technology). In addition to this certification, Tim has nearly a decade of private guitar instruction under local guitar legend, Steve Sage, plus college level music education in theory and performance from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill.
Tim has not only studied under local legends, but has also performed alongside many longtime fixtures of the Bay Area music scene, including Tower of Power’s Mic Gillette and Sly Stone’s Bobby Vega. As primarily a guitarist and vocalist, Tim keeps a very full schedule of performances around the Bay Area. He can currently be seen and heard with groups such as: PUSH, Soul Faiyah (Tim’s own funk group), New Hot Ice Band (Funk/R&B), Flanobo (Soul) as well as various other local groups.
